Hugh Laurie on House:
"I don't watch regularly, I hate seeing myself, but it's even worse hearing my American accent. I had no idea I sound so retarded, a dull monotone, full of clunking mistakes."

Does anyone know why they got an excellent British actor and then got him to play an American character? And did the blonde one sound Australian to anyone else?

Had first interview today. Found out 2 min after arriving at the school that the only other candidate is the current PGCE student. Figured I was the token outsider, muddled through the day thinking oh, it's just a practice.

Then got offered the job.

At the end of the interview they asked if I was still a strong candidate. I said I was still considering the school, however when they phoned they made out as though I had confirmed that I was utterly interested, and they were expecting me to say yes there and then. If I turn it down I will need a really really really good reason to do so. I'm just not sure though....

I have 9 hours to decide either yes or no and think of above mentioned reason.

And try and get some sleep >.<

or maybe not, is only INSET plus CPD at some utterly random school tomorrow - I won't need my brain at all! *facepalm*

My black fluffy fan.

It was pinned to my notice board for almost the entirety of my final year at uni. Now, when I want to use it, can I find it?

My body shop vanilla body shimmer cream. Arg! I want to be all glittery :(

I will slap anyone who asks where I saw it last - I last used it a year ago and have moved 5 or 6 times since then...

In the very wee small hours of Sunday morning I had an excellent chat with [info]onyx_shinigami , enhanced somewhat by my opening the Christmas goody package from ol' Hangul. I am still cracking up over the cannibal pandas pencil cases, and the Ted, Rabbit notepad, and the... well, lets just say a lot of very dodgy konglish stationary! "Without thinking I took my finger And wrote your name in the moisture..." is, however, classic :)

Had a chat with peeps about wedding stuffs, seems like I was the last person to know/remember/realise that it was a masked ball at the reception last weekend. This was then followed by manic internet searches, and hunting of places that sell masks. My planned dress for the night will have to do, and a masque has been found that mostly matches... a bit too gold for my liking, but I guess you can get away with it for that sort of thing.

Anyways, here is a sneak peek:

Just got back from having seen the Golden Compass, was way cool, and I'm glad the blob who went to see it with me enjoyed it too, even though he was a bit concerned as to how much he'd get, or not, what with not having read the books. Didn't turn out to be a problem as the film is really dumbed down. That was it's only bad point really; it felt like a kiddies' film, but the books definitely have an 'adult' level to them.

I shall say no more least I need to post spoiler alerts!

Again, apologies to those to whom I owe e-mails, you are not forgotten, I will get around to it very soon I promise... Just after I get the dreaded year 8s out of the way...

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In January I turned [info]violetnights in for littering (3 points). Last week I pushed [info]phoenix_zephyr in the mud (-17 points). Last month I bought porn for [info]cgaqualla (10 points). In March I broke [info]phlipside's X-Box (-12 points). In June I gave [info]clarie a kidney (1000 points).

Overall, I've been nice (984 points). For Christmas I deserve a Pony Slaystation 3!

Sincerely,
greenfurrymoose

and you are rarely thought of, you are expendable.
That doesn't mean your job isn't important but if you
were in Star Trek you would be killed off in the first

Real post coming soon, I've handed in my assignment, lifted up my head briefly to look around and seen the e-mails and facebook stuffs that I need to sort out, but have to put that off until after classes, interview and observation on Monday. Oh yes, and invasion of the relatives this weekend - must get out and do x-mas shoppings!
» Berserker is...

I can't believe I'm still up and working on this bloody assignment :/

HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY?
Wake Up - Radio Days
Wishful thinking! Although the 2 hour lie-in assisted for oh, about half an hour...

One Long Pair of Eyes - Robyn Hitchcock
'tis a surreal song - several interpretations could be forthcoming!

HOW DO YOUR FRIENDS SEE YOU?
Understanding - Evanescence
I'll leave that for my friends to confirm or deny...

WILL YOU GET MARRIED?
Goodnight Saigon - Billy Joel
Says it all really!

WHAT IS YOUR BEST FRIEND'S THEME SONG?
My Michelle - Guns n Roses
Apt for Michelle by the title (obviously) and her "bang bang flowers" anecdote :)

WHAT IS THE STORY OF YOUR LIFE?

o.O

Hey man nice shot - filter

Bah, 20/20 hindsight

Chains - Tina Arena
I'm not sure I want to know!

WHAT SONG WOULD YOU STRIP TO?
Tomorrow Never Dies - Sheryl Crow (Tomorrow Never Dies soundtrack)

» wowsers, another brill b-day weekend :)
Feels like the first time I've sat down for days; [info]xterminate arrived Friday evening, and was promptly whisked off to Asda for party shoppings, 2 trolly loads later we finally emered, struggled to pack it all into the bug and headed back. Crashed after unpacking and s2 ep7 of Ugly Betty. Saturday was much plannage and prep, baking, moving furnature and boxes, and trialing a few cocktails too. Actual party went very well (apart from one guest leaving early) and was much fun. Thanks to Mike for keeping us topped up with food and the champagene, Andrew for his uber creamy Irish coffees and fireworks, JADS for the yeast, and everyone else for making it such a laugh and a good evening :)

On an unrelated note I can't recommend enough http://www.thefilter.com/ 'tis a most awesome programme. Go to website and do the quick play, try to think of the 3 most unrelated artists and it'll still have the best suggestions.

Anyways time to go off and try and finish off more party leftovers...
» school oddities
I saw this on post secret and it struck a real cord:

It's weird how being back in a school building is unearthing and reminding me of all the hangups and feelings from my own schooltime.

Did any other people find this as trainees? Does it wear off or get worse?
» It's Tuesday already?! Where did the last 5 days go?!
The things I can't include in my reflective journal:

[after heating Iron filings and some sulpher compound to make a black icky mess in a test tube]
"what's the difference now?"
student: "you killed it..."

aww bless...

Anyways, more detailed update of the little I can remember when I don't have to be up for work in 5 and something hours time, am transferring photos off memory stick now, will veto them for poss facebook display...
» I <3 u xterminate!!!
On arrival, the cocktail reception will take place in the chic feature bar followed by dinner which will be served in the opulent banqueting area where you will be seated in a Monte Carlo’esque scene.

Following dinner there will be dancing and lots of entertainment to enjoy including casino tables, dodgems and simulators.

squeeee! how awesome! Corporate x-mas does are great \o/
» ooh look it's 1 o'clock again
Guess it's an extra hour in bed, when I finally get there ;)
» As seen on trappermcintyre's journal...
You Should Play the Saxophone

You are charismatic, friendly, and very uninhibited.
You have a lot of personal expression to bring your music.

Improvisational and informal, you can't deal with an instrument that has too many rules or complexities.
You are much more interested in creating unique solos than immersing yourself in music theory.

You have a lot of style, and you definitely are one smooth operator.
And while you may not play perfectly, no one's going to accuse you of being boring.

Your dominant personality characteristic: being very outgoing

Your secondary personality characteristic: your flair for the unique and dramatic

Very scary as we've now both been given instruments we play!
» see, it does hurt jelly babies when you bite their heads off!
zomg wikipedia really does have an article on everything. This experiment was the most asked after at the open evening last week. The description does not do it justice. (It's a real shame they don't have any videos, however trusty YouTube is not letting us down!)

Yes, America may have given us mentos and diet coke fountains, but we've found a way to turn confectionary colourful, noisy AND ballistic :D
» (No Subject)
Passed my last skills test today - all 3 done first time round \o/ That's one standard finished, only 32 to go...

Had my first IWLP class, I needn't have worried about coming in half way through, the teacher is going right back to basics and it's excellent revision. She suggested I consider moving up to the next level, although the fast-track is tempting I think it'll be too much self-study to do to catch up, I've got more than enough on my plate with my own course. Was good fun, and will be a nice change from the pedagogy!
» IKEA :)
Randomly came accross the below video on YouTube, I remember Jason/Cutglass sharing it with me /years/ ago - apparently the woman reminded him of me.

I think it's the name of the rug that does it ;)

Love IKEA adverts :D
» muzac
Gah, why does music have such an effect on me?! There are some tracks I just can't listen to without blubbing, many songs have sad connotations or lyrics, but there are a couple which have some associations and are guaranteed to reduce me to a wreck. I think the track below might well be included. *worries she's being too sappy*
